Press Release:
Last night, thanks to the support of the folks at Monster Children, DC took over the Don't Come gallery in Melbourne to celebrate the release of DC skate photographer, Mike Blabac's first book, BLABAC PHOTO — The Art of Skateboarding Photography. More than 200 guests, including DC skateboarder Ryan Smith, came to support Blabac and view the photo gallery exhibit showcasing 20 years of Blabac's photography pulled from his extensive collection of work.
Special thanks to the crew at Monster Children and Don't Come for helping put on such a rad show.
With Asahi and sushi fueling stomachs, attendees checked out the space and recognized Mike's contribution to skateboarding through his photography. About 50 large-scale photos, both of DC riders and others like Dill, Howard, and Puleo from the earlier days, were on display on a massive wall inside the gallery. Seeing a rad skate photo is one thing… seeing it big and light well in a proper gallery is a whole new level–don't miss this chance to see these skate photos in such a unique setting.
Blabac's Melbourne gallery exhibit will be available for viewing at the Don't Come gallery (Level 2, Royale Arcade, 314 Little Collins St.). Hurry–this will be one of the last shows at Don't Come before it shuts its doors in August. Next stops on Blabac's tour are July 12 in Tokyo, Japan, July 18 in Barcelona, Spain and the final stop will be in London, England on July 22.
