SUPRA: Lucien is 24 years old and was born in Jamaica. He lived in NYC briefly as a kid before making his home in London where he lives and skates today.
I’m thrilled about SUPRA,“ Lucien said. „The shoes are amazing to skate, and most of the riders I watched for years growing up ‚pon de skateboard. So it’s a banging feeling being on the same team.“
„Jamaica to New York to London was the route to becoming the bad man that is Lucien ‚Brother Darkness‘ Clarke,“ said friend Chewy Cannon. He added cryptically, „If you don’t know now, you will realize after.“
SUPRA knows now and is looking forward to a long relationship with Lucien Clarke.
KR3W:Despite growing up on the east coast of England in Great Yarmouth („basically in the middle of nowhere“), Chewy fell deeply into skating, and, like any true skater, found a way to make it happen. „There was never really fuck all to skate and the skate scene was tiny, but we were all pretty productive. We made spots, we had a camera about early on, so we was always makin‘ videos and day trips. That was some of the best times when I think back.“
Since then, Chewy has gone on to become a household name in the European skate scene–well, maybe not „household name,“ but heaps of people know him and appreciate his skill and style. Including KR3W.
„Proper stoked to be part of the KR3W team,“ Chewy said. „Still trippin‘ on being on the same team as Tom Penny. Legend! Can’t wait to meet a bunch of them boys, too. Me and Karim are holding down the KR3W fort over here so you can rest easy boys.“
Other interesting facts about Chewy:
1. The landlord for the London house that he lives in with his girlfriend was a woman, but is now a geezer. Chewy has described the landlord transformation from her to him as „kinda crazy.“
2. He loves playing darts and saying, „180!“ (presumably in that Lemmy/Motorhead voice that one dart announcer has). „Got a dart board a li’l while back,“ Chewy said, „and I’ve been on a mission on the rainy days to try and become the next big thing.“ His girlfriend is still better than he is, however.
3. Three is a secret.
4. Chewy has a difficult relationship with bananas. They’ve been known to make him violent. But he had little to say about them when KR3W asked about his problems with the fruit. „I love bananas,“ he said. „They smell like the Devil’s nut sack.“
