Press Release:
STREET LEAGUE DC PRO TOUR FUELED BY MONSTER ENERGY
FIRES UP WITH PRELIMINARY QUALIFYING ROUNDS IN GLENDALE
Nyjah Huston, Luan Olveira, Paul Rodriguez, Chris Cole, Torey Pudwill and Ryan Sheckler
Have Qualified in the Top Six Spots for Stop Three Finals
Glendale, Arizona (July 14, 2012) – The results are in from an exhilarating qualifying day for the third stop of the 2012 Street League DC Pro Tour Fueled by Monster Energy (SLS) in Glendale. Some of the world’s best skateboarders were on hand at the Jobing.com Arena and six of the twenty-four Street League pros secured a spot in Sunday’s finals with two spots left open for the top scorers of tomorrow’s semifinal round. It was a tight top tier, with the one, two and three spots all within one point of each other. But it was Nyjah Huston who came out on top by less than two tenths of a point, clenching first place in the qualifying round with the night’s highest score, a 33.6 overall with tricks like a Kick Flip Backside Tail Slide on the Big Section out-ledge for 8.7.
Qualifying in second was Luan Oliveira, with some incredibly technical tricks like a Switch Frontside Flip and a Nollie Backside Flip in the Big section. Third place qualifier was Paul Rodriguez with an overall score of 33.1. Rounding out the qualifying spots were Chris Cole, Torey Pudwill and Ryan Sheckler, who all had solid days of skating.
The Street League pros that finished from 7th to 12th will have one last shot to qualify in the semifinals on Sunday. This year’s semifinal winners round out the 7th and 8th spots for the finals. Tomorrow’s live broadcast could potentially feature an unlikely contender making a run at the podium.
