In December 2019, a probation jury recommended that the convicted murderer and rapist, Mark „Gator“ Rogowski, should be released. The outcry from the family of the murder victim was great.

And the public prosecutor’s office shook his head at the recommendation of the “Board of Parole Hearings” (News).

As reported in the LA Times (Link) today, California Governor Gavin Newsom (Democrats) prevented the release at the last minute.

The politician still sees Gator as a threat to society.

In addition, the murderer still did not understand exactly what led him to this terrible act.

In the 1990s, Gator’s brutal crime shocked the entire area around Carlsbad, California. The former pro skateboarder and skateboard star beat Jessica Bergsten unconscious 30 years ago and raped her. When he was done, he beat and choked the defenseless woman for several hours until she was dead.

Mark Rogowski wrapped her dead body in a surfer’s bag and disposed of the corpse in the desert.

Gator will continue serving his 31-year sentence (sentenced in 1991) in Richard J. Donovan Prison in Otay Mesa.
