That went really bad for the Olympic Skateboarding Team from Australia. Three members tested positive for the corona virus. The team of 11 skateboarders and supervisors flew from Sydney to the USA this month for the Dew Tour in Iowa.
The first infected did not even make it to Iowa and had to stay in California.
The other two corona cases occurred right before registration on May 16 and May 21. The „athlete“ was immediately isolated and did not take part in the contest. On May 21, a trainer who also had to be quarantined was caught.
One of the “sick people” is Melbourne skater Charlotte Heath. The 13-year-old was sad not to be able to take part in the contest, but since she was able to visit many skate parks in California, it wasn’t that bad for her (according to her own statements).
This means that two skateboarders are straight out of the Olympic qualifying race and will not travel to Tokyo.
